Scotch pancakes or drop Scones as they are sometimes known are delicious served hot from the girdle, these mouthwatering treats are a particular favorite of mine as my Mother made them regularly.


4oz Self Raising Flour

A pinch of Salt

2oz Caster Sugar

1 Egg

Milk to mix - approx 4 tablespoons


  1. Mix the flour, salt and sugar in a suitable bowl, add the egg and gradually beat in the milk to make a thick batter.

  2. Bake the pancakes 2 or 3 at a time by dropping spoonfuls of the mixture on a hot, well-greased griddle.

  3. Enjoy your freshly made pancakes with butter or jam
